All of us could not afford to go to DC in July and cannot afford to in September, but whether you can or not there is something you should do between now and then. While we might not be able to go to DC we should be able to afford a few trips to their local offices. In August your Congressmen and Senators are coming to you and giving you a month to make yourself known. We all seem to rally to the big events that come and go, but what do we do to let them know we have not left? What do we do to remind them where they come from and to whom they owe their job? Can we make it clear they should not fear other politicians, but the people who will speak through the voters box?
I think that a large statement can be made if the returning politicians see a continued presence at their local offices for the duration of their vacation. I think all the issues that confront us today boil down to a single point they need to be reminded of. Whether the issue is “stimulus” waste, Government takeover of “healthcare”, or “Cap and Trade”(tax) our gripe is the same, “We Pay You To Represent Us.” We need to make the simple point clear, if you fail to show up on our behalf we will not fail to show up to remove you from office. Before they return to DC in September make it clear they ignore us at their own peril!
September 12 cometh. For those who can make it to DC in September the effort will have a greater effect and a deep seeded meaning. The politicians will know for every one person with a sign at the Congressional steps there are many more back at home deciding who will have that DC office next year.
